Project Name: Accelerating Inclusive Green Growth through Digital Innovations (AGriDI)
Assignment Title: End of Project evaluation of Cool Lion Project, Cote d’Ivoire, West Africa

  1. The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) is an intergovernmental organisation headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya that carries out research and training in sustainable management of insects (arthropods) for improving comprehensive health and agricultural productivity in the tropics (www.icipe.org). One of the icipe projects, Accelerating Inclusive Green Growth through Digital Innovations (AGriDI) is 4-year intervention implemented in the ECOWAS states in the Western Africa region.
  2. Cool Lion project is one of the 13 grants awarded by AGriDI focusing on increased uptake of agri-based digital technologies by farmers and SMEs, especially women and youth. The project was implemented in Cote d’Ivoire. The project assumed that the lack of small-scale cold chain solutions for the preservation of fresh products (fruits and vegetables, domestic food crops, fisheries) for local traders and vendors in Cote d’Ivoire is a human and environmental tragedy.
  3. icipe /AGriDI seeks to engage a consultant to carry out an end of project evaluation for the Cool Lion Project in Cote d’Ivoire. The Evaluation includes an assessment of the performance and results of the project against the objectives that were set in the project design, and to draw lessons and recommendations.   4. icipe now invites eligible individual consultants (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services.
  5. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the assignment:
    1. A Masters degree in agriculture science, environmental science, climate change, social science or other relevant academic discipline related to the assignment with excellent skill in research, monitoring and evaluation of sustainable agriculture projects. A PhD will be an added advantage.
    2. Proven experience of at least 8 years in interdisciplinary approaches and data collection and analysis skills as well as evaluation of development projects.
    3. Strong analytical and conceptual skills to clearly synthesize and present findings, draw practical conclusions, make recommendations and to prepare well-written reports in a timely manner.
    4. Excellent facilitation skills, coordination, negotiation skills and oral and written communication skills in English (particularly report writing). Knowledge of French for a better communication with stakeholders on the ground will be an added advantage.
    5. Provide contact details of at least three (3) organisations where you have provided a similar service. These referees will be contacted.
    6. The consultant should be based in Cote d’Ivoire for the duration of the assignment.
    7. Provide a competitive fee quote in US$ to perform the assignment.
  6.
